The Day The Boat Really
Moved
August 8, 2001
Okay, so it didn't get to move the same day. However, the next day was just
as beautiful as we've come to expect for August weather (and I hope it'll
be so nice on August 9, 2003), and the boat was ready to move!
Kathy was very pleased that the boat was finally going to be leaving.
Captain Mike loading up the anchor from a pallet lifter.
Cheryl decided to come aboard for a tour. Boy was it unimpressively small
up there!
The truck stayed the night next to the boat. It was still mid-afternoon though
by the time they were ready to go.
Here it is loaded up, ready to go.
Coming out onto the street. It's fun blocking traffic!
Woo hoo, it's made it!
Bye, Bye, Fabrication Arts!
Bye, Bye, Bario!
Even Frank came out to see the boat off, although he pretended to not be
interested.
Going past NASSCO (the shipyard for those who can't do it themselves), one
could wonder why Miller would advertise here.
Under the Coronado Bay Bridge. Have you seen those vacation pictures where
they take pictures of something really odd in front of all sorts of landmarks?
This boat beats those pink lawn flamingos!
Entering Beautiful Downtown San Diego.
The boat didn't hold up any traffic at all!
The boat and the convention center.
Here's a picture of the boat at the Star of India, San Diego's favorite tallship.
Mike and Kathy also documented the voyage.
Sinbad going down Pacific Highway. It outraced that motorcycle!
What are you looking at, Tourists? We were on a REAL sea and land adventure!
The destination!
Entering Point Loma
Another blocking of traffic, but this time, they should expect it, being
outside a wharf!
Somebody else's ship being lowered into the water.
Done!
Kathy and Mke happy to have the boat moved.
The look of relief on Kathy's face is priceless.
You Sicko! Do you want to see pictures of the boat in
the water? Okay.
