July 4.
I agreed to make some dog bed covers for my sister’s dog Rocki. When a sample was put down on the floor for Rocki to sit on while the rest of us ate, Alex decided he needed to lie on it, too. He’s very fond of Rocki, and when I mention “Auntie Autumn”, he says “Go see Rocki!” Yes, well.

The other Cobbses were down for a vacation, and Alex paid a little more attention to his younger cousin Colin. Or at least a little more attention to Colin’s toys. (They’re playing on the ugly quilt, named “It Bugs Me”. An adventure in quilting that seemed like a good idea, but turned out not so much.) |
July 15.
We traveled down to San Diego to visit our much neglected friends Jessica and Baby Gabe. But Gabe does have lots of cars, and Hot Wheels Tracks! (We have no Hot Wheels Tracks here, alas.) They didn’t so much play with each other as with the toys, but at least they shared, more or less. |
July 16.
Alex loves the cat. And wants to do everything like her. Including resting on the top of the back of the couch. |
July 19.
Alex and the Firetruck Bag. I made it as his first ‘murse’ to carry around his cars when we take them out of the house. It’s less awkward to say ‘firebag’, so that’s it’s name now. |
July 20.
Alex at the quilting machine. He likes participating in my activities, and so has a great interest in the quilting machine. (His name for it.) He knows that fabric goes through, under the foot, and somehow this makes me happy, and makes quilts. So he will often take a piece of fabric, climb into the chair, and push the fabric through, happily telling me that he’s ‘making quilts’. I try to share, and involve him as much as I can, but sometimes as I’m busy at another part of the quilting table, he’ll do something not so good, such as put the zipper foot into the innards of the machine. Which is pretty hard to get out. Just so you know. |
July 24
Alex and the fire stickers. All I can say is that I’m happy he only wanted to stick them onto himself. I believe they were a present from Gabe. Alex was very serious about how he wanted to put these stickers on. |
