May 2007.
May was full of a young man running around. And running and running and running. Any new parents (I doubt a seasoned veteran parent would want it) who think they can't wait for their little one to start toddling are optimistically mistaken that this is an improvement or makes the young one easier to manage.

That Grandpa was visiting for the month gave both of them plenty of time to make up for all those visits with just Grandma Barbara... Here they are, Alex snuggling and probably watching BoohBah, Teletubbies, or maybe, possibly, Piggly Wiggly. I mean Piggly Winks.

We went to visit Liz, Thom, and baby Aaron. Aaron is I believe about 6 weeks old here, and was uninterested with his visitors. Alex though was pretty interested - in the furnishings, the stairs, in the board game on the table... May5

May 9 gif "Are you loveying the cat?" I ask him.

"Gentle with the cat!" I remind him.

I guess it's all relative. But I think Caira's a pretty cool cat for putting up with all of Alex's 'loveying'.

Papa and Alex sitting on the bed. He is very fond of the cars that came (unwittingly) from his cousin JT. He's also decided that the bed is a pretty cool place to hang out. May 11

may 12 -1 Mommy and Alex blowing bubbles. Notice my raggedy-ann haircolor and pixie cut? The color was an emergency intervention to get rid of the blonde. And just because the picture on the cover of the box had dark reddish brown hair, it doesn't mean that it will change blonde hair to that color. In case you're ever tempted to try. (By the way, my hair has changed color and style about a dozen times in the past few months... and each time it just gets shorter and shorter...)

May 15 1of3 "Where's Josh's nose?" I ask. The best part of the dog, I think, is that with only minor looks from me, he will allow Alex to ... er... play... with him.

My favorite of the dog tricks is yet to be revealed.

Alex and his ducks. The session of 'torment the dog' was interrupted by the appeal of stacking the ducks on Josh's back. A look from me, and Josh was resigned to putting up with this, too. 2 / 3

May 15 3/3 This is my favorite of the dog tricks. "Where're Joshua's eyes?" I ask.

Yes, you see Travis did advise that I not have him practice answering this question with us. The dog though....

About a month prior, we had taken Alex to the park up the street, and he didn't much care for the slide. So when we went this day (with Jessica, Mont, and baby Gabe), we were pleased that he was having a good time. Of course, that it was overcast and the slide wasn't hot helped. What the pictures aren't caputuring is the amount of static the sliding caused - Alex's hair was pretty much standing up on end.

Oh, and Travis was very protective of his little man coming down the slide - it took a great deal of hassling for me to get a picture without Travis's hands hovering on the baby.

5 20 78 Sliding down the twirly slide while I took pictures. Travis had advised that I needed to be able to catch him at the bottom. Yeah, honey, I got him! An amazing feat for a person a few feet away taking pictures. He survived, and Travis is still speaking to me. (Nothing happened other than Alex came to a graceful stop at the bottom of the slide - didn't even fall off.)

Alex prancing around at the park. Sometimes he'll switch from 'run' mode to 'prance' mode. Maybe his diaper needs adjusting. 5/20 84

May 20 119 Here Alex is riding his bus, watching Jessica and Gabe playing at the Jumperoo. Of course, anyone using one of HIS toys, no matter that he had outgrown it, demanded immediate reclamation. Sorry, Alex. Jumperoo is now residing with his cousins. (Along with the beloved Aquarium swing and all the other out-grown baby furniture that I could get Grandma to take back with her on a subsequent trip to Ukiah.)

Alex chasing his playmate out of the tunnel and around the room. They both seem to get enjoyment from this activity, although Alex is more demonstrative in his enthusiasm. 5/22 123
