July 1.
Alex playing climb the mountain with his foamy letters. These toys
are great fun, and can be climbed, thrown, put together like a
puzzle, made into forts (houses if he were a girl), and somersaulted
onto.
In this case, he was running up onto the tallest part of the pile, and then running off and applauding himself. And if his appreciative audience wasn't applauding, he'd give us the look until we joined him. |
July 11.
Alex and dip. A while back, he learned about the magic of dip. He
dips carrot sticks, bread sticks, scrambled eggs, cucumer (as seen
here), and mandarin oranges. Often, he sucks the dip off. His
favorite dip: Ranch. Second favorite dip (only successfully employed
on eggs): Ketchup. But hey, ketchup is a vegetable!
He also uses a spoon, but not for dip. |
July 19.
(To the tune of Dipsy's Hat song from Teletubbies) We put all sorts of things on our heads and ask him if it's an appropriate hat. Here he has a sandwich bag on his head, emulating mommy. Of course, if we went outside, or when he notices that I have the camera, the hat has to come off. Dipsy's hat song: Hat hat-hat-hat Hat hat-hat-hat (ad nauseum) |
July 22.
We took a weekend excursion to Swami's Meditation Gardens. Here he is
on a path, admiring and sharing with us the Koi in the pond.
Mommy: What sound does a fish make, Alex? Alex: Sizzle, sizzle! |
July 22.
Alex and butterfly. He says 'butterfly'... of course, it sounds more like 'bahbah bah'. That and 'flower' sometimes sounds like 'bahbah'. So he may have said something that to an untrained ear sounded like "bah bah bahbah bah", but his family members could translate as "flower, butterfly". Even more confusing is that sometimes he omits the last 'bah' on butterfly. He doesn't say many words very clearly, but one he picked up the other day he says with amazing precision. "Boob". Well, he lifted up my shirt and poked. What was I supposed to name it as? |
July 23.
Alex loveying the cat. Other than the issue of who gets to sleep closer to Mommy in the bed, they still get along famously well together. Here Alex is putting the Red Lobster neckace on Caira, to make her beautiful. |
July 23.
Here they are at the end of Caira's makeover session. And Alex is without shorts - whether it's because he pulled them off or they were intentionally left off, it's hard to say. |
July 30.
When the baby's quiet.... I was enjoying a nice conversation with
Joanie on the phone, and Alex was in front of the low linen, trying
to get into the left-hand cabinet with the DVD collection in it. It's
securely latched, so I was just keeping an eye out for him. And saw
him crawling into the cabinet. It's a tight squeeze to fit in there,
I'm pretty surprised he did it. Of course he couldn't extricate
himself, so I had to open the other side to get him out.
Again, no pants. Why did we decide he shouldn't get into the DVD side? Probably just the mess factor. It's one of those arbitrary decisions made. |
